Apply online today for 2008-09 parking permits or Commute Club memberships

It is time to renew or apply for your 2008-09 parking permit or enroll in the Commute Club for 2008-09. Commute Club members receive up to $282 in Clean Air Cash or Carpool Credit in 2008-09. Current parking permits expire on Aug. 31, and there will be no formal grace period. Permit holders need to display their new parking stickers as of Sept. 1. To see 2008-09 permit rates, visit http://transportation.stanford.edu/parking_info/ParkingInformation.shtml#prices.

Select one of the following ways to apply:

1. Online: http://transportation.stanford.edu/orders
2. Fax: 650.724.8676
3. Email (scanned application): transportation@stanford.edu
4. Mail or in person: 340 Bonair Siding (Mail Code 7255), Stanford, CA 94305-7255

The most convenient option is to request your parking permit online (http://transportation.stanford.edu/orders), and request "mail delivery" to avoid a trip to the P&TS office and the long lines associated with the new academic year. If you select "will-call," permits will be available at the P&TS office 5 to 10 days after your application is received. You will be notified when your permit is available for pickup.

Over-the-counter sales are available from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, call 650.723.9362 or send email to transportation@stanford.edu. Application forms are available at http://transportation.stanford.edu/maps_forms_apps/MapsForms.shtml#forms-apps.

Before you purchase a permit, consider the alternatives, especially in light of high gas prices and increased parking permit costs. Join the Commute Club to receive up to $282 in Clean Air Cash or Carpool Credit in 2008-09. For information about the Commute Club or to request help planning your alternative commute, send an email to commuteclub@stanford.edu.

Do you know where to park and ride a scooter on campus?

If you are using a gas or electric scooter to commute to or travel around campus, note that scooters are considered a motorized vehicle. Follow these tips to avoid a citation:

* Scooters and mopeds must be parked in motorcycle parking spaces or "A" and "C" parking spaces with the corresponding parking permit.
* Scooters may not be parked in buildings, arcades, or bicycle areas, nor can they be locked to bicycle racks, poles, or other fixtures on campus.
* Scooters are banned from the Pedestrian Zone and any area accessed through bollards.

If you have questions or need more information, send an email to transportation@stanford.edu or call the P&TS office at 650.723.9362.
