Okay, so my love of Caltrain isn't exactly a forbidden love, but I thought you would open my e-mail more quickly if it had a racy title. It is not difficult for me to wax poetic about my commute. I began taking the Baby Bullet in the fall of 2004, right after I moved to San Jose. It was not long until, deprived of the daily torture of driving to work, I suddenly became a nice person. Not that I wasn't nice before, but now I'm downright lovable. For awhile, I still drove to work if I had a doctor's appointment, but now I am so hooked on Caltrain that I switched doctors so I could ride Marguerite back and forth between work and my doctor's office. Thanks to Caltrain, I have written 30,000 words of my first novel. Plus, I am certainly better read now that I ride the Baby Bullet - I have probably tripled the number of books I find time to read. I am even more productive at work because my train ride gives me a chance to go over my to do list for the day and prioritize so that I can hit the ground running. Caltrain has saved me hours of stress, gallons of gas, tons of money, and has allowed me to start and end my day in a relaxing, yet productive manner. So, although my love of Caltrain may not be forbidden, it is pure and sweet. And isn't that what alternative transportation is all about?
