1) Parking Structure 6 expected to open at the end of April
Parking will be displaced at Wilbur Lot, Memorial Lot, and Memorial Way and valet service ends

Parking Structure 6 (PS-6), off Campus Drive East near the Munger housing project and the Law School, is scheduled to be completed at the end of this month. The new structure will offer 1,180 new parking spaces for commuter, resident ("EA" and "SO" permits) and visitor parking.

As PS-6 opens, the valet service will end at Tresidder Lot (L-39), and there will be a temporary closure of Wilbur South Parking Lot (L-62) for a reconfiguration project. There also will be a permanent closure of the Wilbur-Stern Temporary Lot (located between Stern Hall and Wilbur Hall, adjacent to PS-6).

Alternatives to the Wilbur Lots include PS-6 for "A", "C", and "EA" permit holders, and Wilbur East Parking Lot (L-63), Bowdoin Street parking (between Campus Drive and Stanford Avenue), and Cowell at Bowdoin Parking Lot (L-65) for "C", "EA" and "ES" permit holders.

The Memorial parking lot (L-83), at the corner of Galvez Street and Memorial Way, is expected to close permanently on May 5 due to the expansion of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). Visitor pay parking will be relocated to Memorial Way. "A" permit parking alternatives include Galvez Street, the Serra West lot (L-90), Lasuen Street, Roth Way, Museum Way, and the Oval.

For more information, please contact Parking Operations at parkingoperations@stanford.edu or 650.723.9362.

3) Construction to impact Marguerite riders at the Palo Alto Caltrain station
Look for directional signs beginning April 12

Beginning Saturday, April 12, and continuing for at least two weeks, construction at the Palo Alto Transit Center will impact the loading platform for Marguerite shuttles at the top of the transit loop. Watch for detour signs regarding platform access when boarding and disembarking from Marguerite shuttles during this time.

Caltrain and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority began construction at the Palo Alto Transit Center and the California Avenue Caltrain station in December 2007. The $35 million project is expected to be complete in late 2008 and will provide improved track capacity, disabled access, and rail safety. Special thanks to Stanford Caltrain riders for their patience during construction!

5) Last chance to participate in the P&TS Commute Survey
The deadline is April 30, and prize drawings include a $1,000 grand prize

Stanford faculty, staff, and students in the Bay Area should have received the annual P&TS Commute Survey by now. It was sent by email on March 17 or by mail to those who do not have an email address in our system.

When you complete the survey, you will have the option to be entered in our drawings for a $1,000 grand prize, iPods, gift cards, and AMC movie tickets, or you may submit your survey anonymously. There will be 41 lucky winners in our drawings! The deadline to enter the commute survey prize drawings is April 30, 2008. If you believe you should have received a survey and didn't, send an email to commuteclub@stanford.edu.

6) Commute Club members receive Clean Air Cash this month
It pays to be a Commute Club member

If you were a Clean-Air-Cash Commute Club member (not applicable to carpool members) from December 2007 through February 2008, your Clean Air Cash deposit should be $39. Normally, you would receive $58.50 for the quarter. However, since the December payment was included in last quarter's Clean Air Cash payment, this quarter was adjusted to cover only two months: January and February.

Clean Air Cash was or will be awarded to non-carpool Commute Club members on the following schedule:

Students and other members using bank deposit received their payment on April 2.
Hospital employees will receive their payroll deposit on or around April 11.
University employees will receive their payroll deposit on or around April 15.

If you have questions, send us an email at commuteclub@stanford.edu. If you're not in the Commute Club but want to receive Clean Air Cash, see if you are eligible to join. Visit our website to learn more: http://transportation.stanford.edu/commuteclub.

7) A $20 gift card could be yours
Answer April's Factoid Quiz to enter this month's drawing

Here is this month's Factoid Quiz question: What is the service called that allows you to find people who will carpool, vanpool, or bicycle with you? A) ridematching service, B) Translink, C) commute planning, or D) charter services. If you don't know the answer, visit our website to find out: http://transportation.stanford.edu. Submit your answer through our website quiz page at http://transportation.stanford.edu, and you'll be entered in our $20 monthly gift card drawing.

Congratulations to our March winner: Paul Grossi, Office of Science Outreach, who won a $20 StanfordCardPlan (accepted at many campus locations, including the Stanford Bookstore, Peet's, Jamba Juice, selected Stanford Dining locations, and more). He answered correctly that the reward for referring a friend to the Commute Club is $50. Thanks to Nanna Notthoff, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology, for submitting this month's quiz question. She also wins a $20 gift card!

Each month, our team at Parking & Transportation Services challenges you with a new quiz question about our office, programs, and services.** Send us your suggestions for our Factoid Quiz question, and if your question is selected, you will win a $20 gift card! Fill out the suggestion form on our website: http://transportation.stanford.edu/quiz/quizQuestion.html. If you have a question that needs an answer, ask us directly at commuteclub@stanford.edu.

* Restrictions apply. Please see full eligibility requirements. Participants must live off campus, be on campus at least 20 hours a week, and work at a site that requires a Stanford parking permit to park (if employee), or be a registered student. Evening- or night-shift employees, and individuals who live on-campus are ineligible for the Commute Club and for the part-time pledge promotion. Commute Club members are ineligible for the part-time pledge promotion. Peak hours for part-time participation are 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Employees: Be sure to get your supervisor's approval before changing your work schedule.

You are eligible to win only one prize per academic year, but you are welcome to complete the quiz each month. On the last weekday of each month, respondents with the correct answer that month will be entered in a prize drawing; the winner, chosen at random, will receive a $20 gift card. If your quiz question is selected, you will receive a $20 gift card.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
1 It is important for Parking & Transportation Services to communicate parking and alternative-transportation information to the campus. Under the 2000 General Use Permit (campus growth plan approved by Santa Clara County), the campus has a goal of "no net new peak-hour commute trips" over the life of the permit and must accommodate campus growth with a limited number of new parking spaces. Failure to achieve this goal will result in the campus being faced with costly mitigation measures.
