90%+ User Approval of the Redesigned Transportation Website

We launched a streamlined, more intuitive Stanford Transportation website to improve the online experience for all affiliations. Over 90% of survey respondents said they liked or loved the new site, reinforcing our commitment to continuous improvement through user feedback and ongoing enhancements.

Nearly 2 Million Marguerite Rides

Riders took 1,921,959 trips on the free Marguerite shuttle system, averaging nearly 8,000 riders per day and representing a 7% increase over the previous year.

New Executive Director Steering Transportation Forward

661 Community Members Took the Stanford Car-Free Challenge

Through our Car-Free Challenge, 661 participants committed to commuting by bike, transit, carpool, vanpool, walking, or other sustainable options, showing how small shifts can collectively reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips.

Launch of Uber/Lyft Ride-Hailing Pilot

A ride-hailing pilot with designated Uber and Lyft pick-up and drop-off locations at Tresidder and the Oval/Main Quad. Designed to enhance convenience, campus safety, and simplify the ride-hailing experience.

Marguerite Aligns 8 Shuttle Lines with Electrified Caltrain Service

To support Caltrain’s transition to electrified service, Marguerite schedules were realigned across CAX, MC, P, RP, RWC, S, X, and Y lines to create smoother transfers, improved reliability, and a more seamless commute for campus riders.

Fun Fact: 43% increase in Caltrain GoPass ridership following electrification launch.

Bonus: In September, Marguerite launched the new CAX line, creating a direct connection between the California Avenue Caltrain Station and Stanford Research Park.

Vanpool Program Grows to 23 Active Pools and 148 Members

Participation in our vanpool program increased from 13 to 23 active groups and from 62 to 148 members between 2022 and 2025, adapting to support hybrid schedules and expand access.

17-Time Recipient of Best Workplaces for Commuters

Stanford’s 2025 award marks the 17th time the university has been nationally recognized for its comprehensive commuter benefits and commitment to sustainable mobility.

New STARS Bike Safety Program Launched

300+ participants registered for the STARS Bicycle Safety Roundabout Class, building cycling skills and confidence to navigate campus roadways safely.

1426 Graduate Students Enrolled in Free Caltrain GoPass Program

The Grad GoPass gives eligible commuting graduate students unlimited Caltrain access as part of Stanford’s commuter benefits program.

200 Personalized Commute Consultations

Stanford affiliates scheduled one-on-one commute consultations with our sustainable transportation experts to get personalized sustainable commute plans, supporting Stanford’s sustainable commute participation rate which continues to exceed 62%.
