Our way of saying "thanks"
Carpool Credit is one of the main rewards of being a carpool member of the Stanford Commute Club. If you carpool to campus and are eligible, join the Commute Club to receive Carpool Credit as a reimbursement for your 'A' or 'C' carpool permit.
If you don't currently carpool and want to find others at Stanford with whom to carpool or vanpool, contact the Commute Club for help with your alternative commute.
Who is eligible and what do they get?
To receive Carpool Credit, you must meet all of the eligibility requirements for the Commute Club and must not have any Stanford parking permit other than the carpool permit, daily scratchers, or an "SH" permit, if applicable, during the time you are registered for the Commute Club.
Stanford’s carpool program offers Carpool Credit to offset the cost of your carpool permit. The cost of the 'A' or 'C' permit is shared equally among all members of the carpool, with each member paying his or her share of the cost of the permit (current permit rates). At the end of each academic quarter, each member receives Carpool Credit for each month of carpool eligibility in that quarter to reimburse them for the cost of their permit as illustrated in the accompanying chart.
|Number of People in Carpool||Carpool Credit|
|2||Free 'C'-Carpool permit*|
|3||Free 'A'-Carpool permit**|
|4||Free 'A' Carpool permit**|
*Two-person carpools have the option of choosing an ‘A’-Carpool permit and paying the difference between the ‘C’ and ‘A’ permit rate.
**Carpools of three or more have the option of choosing a ‘C’-Carpool permit and continuing to receive $12.50 each month in Carpool Credit.
Please note: Anyone found to be in violation of the Commute Club and/or parking permit policies set forth by Parking & Transportation Services (P&TS) is subject to revocation of transportation incentives and/or parking privileges. Instances of egregious misconduct may result in further administrative, disciplinary, and/or legal action, up to and including termination of employment or expulsion.
In case of an emergency...
- "What if my child gets sick and I have to leave immediately?"
- "What if my carpool driver needs to leave without me unexpectedly?"
- "What if my neighbor calls to tell me that my home is on fire?"
The answer to these and other issues is Stanford's free Emergency Ride Home program. You are automatically enrolled in Stanford's Emergency Ride Home program when you join the Commute Club.
