Stanford Transportation Impacts during Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Monday, 1/19

Additional impact to our Customer Service Operations on Tuesday, January 20, between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and Tuesday, January 27, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to attend staff events. We had a tough decision with 25 entries, and ultimately decided to award not one but two winners.

Anime Artist - Design a Bike Safety Mascot to Win!

Internship Details

From December 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026
Requiring 3-5 hours/month

The internship will be to develop your own original character to be the new bike safety mascot. During the internship, you will meet with the Stanford Transportation marketing and communications team to develop Yonokoma (short 4-panel comic strips) comic strips to promote bike safety about the following topics:

  • wearing a properly fitted bike helmet
  • encouraging the use of hand signals
  • using bike lights at night
  • following the rules of the road
  • properly securing your bike

Your character will shine in various formats, including printed comics, digital platforms, and social media. Depending on the success of our campaign, we may explore 3D replicas and design a costume for cosplay at events.

Eligibility Requirements

The internship is open to all Stanford University undergraduate and graduate students who can commit 3-5 hours/month between December 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026.

Contest Rules and Decision Criteria

The winning entry will be chosen based on an original character that fits our bike and road safety theme. Entries with excessive violence, coarse language, and suggestive situations will be automatically disqualified. The winner will be notified by November 26, 2025. 

How to Enter

Contest closed October 31, 2025.  The winner will be notified by November 26, 2025. Please attach your artwork as digital files or scans of the original. Ensure it is on A4-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches) at 300 DPI, with dimensions of approximately 2550 x 3300 pixels.
