Stanford Transportation Impacts during University Winter Closure from December 22, 2025, through January 2, 2026

Calls regarding parking enforcement requests will still be responded to during these impacts. Even when our office is closed, you can still use the How-to Guides to:

Reserve a Bike Cage

Main content start

Daily bike storage is only available to Stanford affiliates commuting to campus. If you are a resident on campus and need long-term bike storage (e.g., over the summer), the Campus Bike Shop is offering bike storage options, so that your bike does not get impounded or exposed to the elements. Bikes should be securely locked to a bike rack inside the bike cage. Please refer to our Keep Your Bike Secure page for additional details.

Daily bicycle storage cages

Please note that Stanford is not liable for any loss, injury or damage resulting from the use of the daily bike storage facilities. Please also note that bike cages are the only secure bike storage option available at this time.

  • Bike cage spaces are available at Knight Management Center Garage, Roth Way Garage, Stock Farm Garage, Via Ortega Garage, and the Center for Academic Medicine (CAM).
  • The bike cage rental fee is $72 annually (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31), paid in advance, and is prorated for partial-year participants. You may vacate your storage space before the end of the rental term but there are no refunds for the unused time.
  • To reserve space, submit a Daily Bike Storage Rental Application. Questions about this online application can be sent to bike-information@stanford.edu.

Clothes lockers and showers

Some buildings on the main campus offer limited access to showers for Stanford affiliates, but they are not widely available. Stanford Transportation does not maintain a list of shower and locker availability throughout campus, so you may want to check with your department or colleagues.

Visit the Stanford Recreation and Wellness Facilities  website for recreation facility hours, access information, available services, and other updates.

Stanford Redwood City

Daily bicycle storage cages

Each bike cage/room at SRWC accommodates 60 bikes and is accessible with your Stanford ID card.

There are three bike cages and rooms located at:

  • The ground level of Barron Garage (temporarily closed for security upgrades),
  • BeWell Recreation Center, and
  • The A2 Building next to Barron Garage

Currently, bike cages are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You will not need to make a reservation. During this time there is no rental fee.

Please note: If rental fees for bike cages take effect, rates will be consistent with our current main campus secure bike parking program, and ID card readers will be configured to only allow access to paying cyclists who are SRWC employees.

Clothes lockers and showers

The Stanford Redwood City Recreation and Wellness Center provides showers, locker rooms with towel service, and day use lockers, among a number of other amenities. Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served, day-to-day basis. You need to provide your own lock.

Visit the SRWC Recreation and Wellness Center website for hours and other facility updates.

Bike Rack

Lock your bike to a bike rack (including wheels and frame), even inside the bike cage or room.
