How to Plan a “Try Your Commute Day” to Stanford Redwood City
“All the participants were happy with the experience,” said Leonie Batkin, managing director of asset management. “And four who are not [sustainable] commuters now will be commuting three to four days a week after we move.”
Now that Stanford Redwood City is open, it's a great time to plan a "Try Your Commute Day" event if there is interest among your department and support from your department's management.
When we surveyed SRWC commuters who were interested in a “Try Your Commute Day,” the majority expressed interest in commuting from their residences, rather than a P&TS-planned group event from campus.
With this in mind, we have pulled together some ideas to help you or your department plan your own “Try Your Commute Day,” and we are including examples from other groups that have already tried it.
“Since we don’t begin moving into Discovery Hall until the end of May, we have the luxury of time to showcase the campus and its amenities to our colleagues, and give them the opportunity to get a taste of their morning commute,” said Promila Rastogi, director of Transformational Initiatives: People and Place. “We’re so grateful to Parking & Transportation Services for partnering with us on these ‘field trips’.”
