Pedal Together Challenge By the Numbers

Congratulations to our Pedal Together Challenge grand prize winner, Chelsea Soriano. She’s thrilled to have won the Short Haul Tern Cargo Bike (valued at $1,075). Chelsea, center operations coordinator for the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, has been pining for a bike ever since hers was stolen when she was a student at UC Davis. When her colleague, Stacey Clifton (an events manager for the Freeman Spogli Institute), suggested she join her for a bike skills class, Chelsea tagged along for a chance to be entered into the Pedal Together Challenge but never thought she’d win.

Chelsea now plans to bike commute to work from her home in Palo Alto instead of driving. “Adopting an active, sustainable commute will be a dream come true,” she said, adding that forgoing the hassle and expense of parking for an enjoyable two-and-a-half-mile journey will be a highlight of her summer. She plans to use the cargo bike for errands, too.

Thanks to all who entered Pedal Together – including those who pedaled outside their comfort zone by biking to work, joining a campus bike tour, scheduling a bike chat, or taking a class during the Pedal Together Challenge. Summer is here, and it stays light outside longer, so keep on ridin’ over the next few months – whether to commute, run an errand, or simply bring you joy.
