Parking Permit Reinstatement Action Steps

Parking permit requirements will resume at Stanford's main campus and Stanford Redwood City as of Wednesday, July 1. How does this affect you? The dropdown menus below can help determine action steps you might want to take depending on your parking needs.

‘A,’ ‘C, ‘C’-SRWC, ‘Z,’ ‘MC,’ and resident permit customers

The following customers should refer to their sections in this table for specific information:

Action
  • Purchase a new parking permit when you need to park at the main campus or Stanford Redwood City as of July 1.

Deadline
  • Purchase a permit on the day of, or prior to, the first day you plan to park to avoid citations as of July 1.

  • Daily and monthly 2019-20 permit rates apply.
  • Parking fees are non-refundable, so please purchase permits based on your parking needs.

 


Carpools

Action
  • Carpool permits are no longer available.
  • Please purchase a regular commuter parking permit if/when needed.

  • Purchase the commuter or resident permit that works for you and potentially save on parking costs.
Deadline
  • All carpool permits have been canceled due to the prevalence of full-time and part-time telecommuting currently.
  • As of July 1, purchase a regular commuter permit on the day of, or prior to, the first day you plan to park.
Notes
  • Carpool permits are unavailable until further notice.
  • Carpoolers must purchase a regular commuter permit to park on either campus.
  • If you continue to carpool, you may share the cost of your permit and commute expenses informally or through the Scoop carpooling app.
  • July 1, parking enforcement begins.
  • Daily and monthly 2019-20 permit rates apply.

 


Vanpools

Action
  • Please note that ‘A’-Carpool permits issued to vanpools are no longer available.
  • Vanpool coordinators, please fill out this form as a first step in setting up a new permit for your vanpool. 
“How To”
  • Vanpool coordinators complete the vanpool form.
  • Vanpools should contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu for assistance, if needed.
Deadline
  • All carpool permits issued to vanpools have been canceled due to the prevalence of full-time and part-time telecommuting currently.
Notes
  • July 1, parking enforcement begins.
  • Carpool permits for vanpools are being replaced with vanpool permits for vanpools.
  • All vanpool coordinators must complete the vanpool form.
  • If you plan to park on the main campus or at Stanford Redwood City, you must either request a vanpool permit from our office or purchase a permit to avoid citations.

 


Courtesy 'Z' permit holders

Action
  • Since all Courtesy-’Z’ permits expire as of June 30, you must purchase a regular permit to park as of July 1.

  • Refer to our “How To” guides for assistance.
  • Hospital employees can contact the Hospital Parking Operations Center at transportationservices@stanfordhealthcare.org or 650.736.8000 with their questions.

  • Purchase a permit on the day of, or prior to, the first day you plan to park to avoid citations as of July 1.
Notes
  • You are not charged for your courtesy permits, but they expire as of June 30.
  • July 1, parking rates and enforcement begin.
  • Daily and monthly 2019-20 permit rates apply.
  • Parking fees are non-refundable, so please purchase permits based on your parking needs.

 


Undergraduate students

Action
  • Purchase a parking permit when needed to park on campus.
  • No action required at this time for undergraduates who left vehicles on campus when asked to leave campus in March.

  • Purchase the commuter or resident permit that works for you and potentially save on parking costs.
Deadline
  • As of July 1, purchase a permit to park on campus unless you are part of the excepted group below.
  • There is an exception through Jan. 31, 2021 for undergraduate residents who left their vehicles on campus when they were asked to leave campus in March. If you are an undergraduate resident who left their vehicle on campus and are on our exempted list of vehicles, please fill out this form. Otherwise your parking-permit exception may expire.
Notes
  • July 1, parking rates and enforcement begin.
  • Daily and monthly 2019-20 parking permit rates apply.
  • Vehicles on campus when undergraduates were asked to leave campus in March have been identified and will be exempt. Please note that parking restrictions in special zones, such as disabled parking, red zones, fire lanes, 'D' spaces, and special-permit-only spaces, continue to be enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

 


Departments and vendors

Action
  • Do NOT cancel your department or Service Vehicle (SV) permit if you have one and want it to continue.
  • Purchase a parking permit if/when needed.
  • Inform vendors/contractors/visitors coming to campus that parking enforcement is in effect as of July 1.

Deadline
  • As of July 1, purchase daily or long-term department permits depending on your department/contractor/visitor/vendor needs.

  • Please note, long-term department permits must be purchased at least three days prior to the first day your department/contractor/vendor/visitor plan(s) to park.

Visitors

Action
  • Download the ParkMobile app and/or 
  • Set up a ParkMobile account
"How To"

Deadline
  • As of July 1, purchase visitor parking upon arrival on the first day you need to park on campus.
Notes
  • To reduce high-touch surfaces and increase customer safety, pay machines will no longer be available on the main campus.
  • Please use the ParkMobile app for visitor parking.
