Resident Student Parking
Resident students who intend to keep a vehicle on campus must purchase a 'RES' parking permit in their designated area. Please read the following information you need to know about resident parking:
- Residential permits in the nearest area become available for purchase when Stanford Transportation receives the data file confirming your approved residential contract in the area nearest your residence
- Residential parking is divided into the following areas: West (WE), South (SO), East (EA), SJ, Escondido Village (ES), and Escondido Village (EVF). Residential parking permits are valid only in their respective areas, except EVF, which is valid in both EVF and ES parking spaces.
- Stanford undergraduate first-year (frosh) students are not permitted to bring cars to campus; however, all residents can purchase a daily resident permit for visitors/overnight guests (valid in all residential parking permit spaces, including EA, ES, EVF, SJ, SO, and WE)
- Resident permits can be purchased in daily, calendar month, and academic year permits
- Daily Residential Parking Permits are valid in all residential permit parking spaces, including EA, ES, EVF, SJ, SO, and WE
- Each student is limited to one residential permit with a valid housing contract, except for the following:
- Students in couples housing are limited to two long-term permits
- Students in family housing may purchase up to three long-term permits
- Parking permits must not exceed the duration of your housing contract
- Residents interested in Summer Storage for their vehicle must apply, be approved, confirm, and pay in full to store their vehicle on campus during the summer. Application opens in May.
- Resident students do not qualify for 'A' or 'C' commuter permits
- Residential Varsity permits are valid in the selected residential location & ‘C/E’ spaces in Varsity Lot (L-97) only
- Resident student lots are enforced 24/7
- Only one vehicle may park on campus per residential permit

Stanford undergraduate first-year students (frosh) are not permitted to bring cars to campus for the duration of their first year: Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters.
