Resident Student Parking
Main content start
Resident students who intend to keep a vehicle on campus must purchase a 'RES' parking permit in their designated area. Please read the following information you need to know about resident parking:
- Residential permits in the nearest area become available for purchase when Stanford Transportation receives the data file confirming your approved residential contract in the area nearest your residence
- Residential parking is divided into the following areas: West (WE), South (SO), East (EA), SJ, and Escondido Village (ES/EVF).
- Stanford undergraduate first-year (frosh) students are not permitted to bring cars to campus; however, all residents can purchase a daily resident permit for visitors/overnight guests
- Resident permits can be purchased in daily, calendar month, and academic year permits
- Each student is limited to one residential permit with a valid housing contract, except for the following:
- Students in couples housing are limited to two long-term permits
- Students in family housing may purchase up to three long-term permits
- Parking permits must not exceed the duration of your housing contract
- Residents interested in Summer Storage for their vehicle must apply, be approved, confirm, and pay in full to store their vehicle on campus during the summer. Application opens in May.
- Resident students do not qualify for 'A' or 'C' commuter permits
- Resident student lots are enforced 24/7
- Only one vehicle may park on campus per residential permit
