Security and Access Changes at Barron Garage
Between Aug. 18 and Aug. 31, 2021, SRWC Operations received reports of the theft of catalytic converters from vehicles parked in Barron Parking Garage.
To increase security, the gates at Barron Parking Garage will be card-access only as of Sept. 2. SRWC Operations has also increased the frequency of security patrols in the garage and surface parking lots.
Anticipate access changes
- The Bay Road entrance for Barron Garage is currently closed.
- Access to Barron Garage is via card-access only 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Stanford staff assigned to the Stanford Redwood City campus can scan their Stanford IDs at the card reader to enter and exit the garage.
- If you have forgotten your ID, please park in a surface lot.
- If your ID doesn’t work to open the gate, please park in the Bay or Broadway surface lots and contact SRWC Operations at 650.723.7792 or srwc-operations@stanford.edu.
- Upper parking levels are closed. Only the first two floors of the Barron Parking Garage are accessible.
- Elevators in the Barron Garage are in locked mode 24/7. They will remain unavailable until additional measures are implemented.
- Visitor parking. During this time, since Barron Garage currently requires a Stanford ID to enter, visitors can park in the Broadway and Bay Lots as alternatives. Bay Lot and Barron Garage are temporarily unavailable to visitors for electric vehicle charging.
Safety and security tips:
Remain attentive and aware of your surroundings, especially when walking to and from your vehicle. Report any suspicious activity by calling 650.723.SRWC (7792) immediately so Allied Universal Security can respond. Examples of potentially suspicious activity include the following:
- If a vehicle piggybacks behind you to enter the garage, please note the make/model/color of the vehicle and license plate if you are able to obtain it safely and report it to 650.723.SRWC (7792).
- Suspicious loitering, such as people loitering around vehicles, looking underneath or into parked vehicles
- Vehicles stopped behind or near parked vehicles in a way that could conceal criminal activity
- Vehicles raised up on a jack or hydraulic lift
- Activated vehicle alarms
As activity increases in parking garages and lots, please drive slowly and be especially alert to pedestrians and cyclists in and around parking areas.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact SRWC Operations at srwc-operations@stanford.edu.
