Anna Walters recently joined our Transportation Demand Management (TDM) as program manager. She will oversee the commute programs and the team. Anna is already a friendly face, having worked on bike-related campus outreach and events over the years with Ariadne Scott, Stanford's assistant director of active mobility.

Anna started her career on Google’s transportation team where she helped manage its comprehensive program. Most recently, she worked for Bikes Make Life Better as a senior marketing manager and consultant.

Car-free for a Decade Plus

A San Francisco resident, Anna has been car-free for over a decade. She bicycles or rides public transit around the City and commutes to Stanford Redwood City via bicycle and Caltrain.

Avid Cyclist

Along with her professional accomplishments, Anna is an avid cyclist/adventurer who once rode from the Pacific Northwest to San Francisco, camping along the way. She points to an often-told joke in the cycling community. “When someone asks how many bikes you have, the answer is always N+1, meaning whatever number of bikes you own plus the next on your wishlist,” said Anna. How many bikes does Anna currently have? Let’s count…

  1. A lightweight road/commuter bike, easy to take on and off Caltrain.
  2. A ‘Burner’ bike, ideally suited for Burning Man Festivals.
  3. A gravel bike that doubles as a camping bike because she can load it up with gear. Her +1 bikes, by the way, are a tandem and an e-bike.

Anna is thrilled to join the Transportation team. “I’m excited to start a new adventure at Stanford. I look forward to finding new and exciting ways to promote our award-winning programs,” she said.
