To help new students develop safe cycling habits during New Student Orientation this past fall, we offered a hands-on Bike Skills 101 workshop that taught participants how to ride in a roundabout, navigate a roundabout and ride around Marguerite buses on campus. Students were even able to sit the Marguerite bus driver’s seat, using the bus’ mirrors so they could see – from the driver’s vantage – fellow students riding around the bus. It was an eye-opening experience to say the least.
All 132 students who signed up for the workshop received a token bike light, red blinking lights and reflective straps to make it easier to be seen, especially at night.
