AC Transit EasyPass
University and hospital employees who reside in the East Bay are eligible for AC Transit's EasyPass.
Eligibility
University, SLAC, and hospital employees living in the East Bay are eligible for the EasyPass. AC Transit serves Alameda and Contra Costa counties as well as the unincorporated areas of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, El Sobrante, Fairview, Kensington, Irvington, North Richmond, and San Lorenzo.
You can confirm your eligibility for the AC Transit EasyPass at any time by logging into our Transit Pass Eligibility and Status Checker.
To be eligible, your residence address must be in an eligible East Bay ZIP code. To ensure your eligibility for the EasyPass, please confirm that your home address is correct, especially your ZIP code, in StanfordYou (university employees), MyWorkday (Stanford Healthcare employees), or AccessHR (LPCH employees).
Please note that if your affiliation has changed or is going to change, the passes on your Clipper card may be deactivated. Please contact commuteclub@stanford.edu to check the status of the passes on your Clipper card and whether you need to take any additional action.
Request an EasyPass
University, SLAC, and hospital employees who are eligible, can request an AC Transit EasyPass on their Clipper card by using our Transit Pass Request Form.
If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu or 650.736.9923.
First time using the EasyPass
It may take 9 to 12 business days for the EasyPass to be loaded to your Clipper card. We recommend the following if you are using the EasyPass for the first time:
- Add Clipper Cash to your Clipper card in case your pass does not work for any reason.
- Check transaction history under Clipper's My Account page to see if the EasyPass has been loaded to the Product column, and that there is no charge for that ride in the Debit column.
- If you find that you are being charged for riding the Dumbarton Express, please contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu or 650.736.9923.
If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu or 650.736.9923.

About the AC Transit EasyPass
In winter 2020, Stanford Transportation reached an agreement with AC Transit to participate in their EasyPass program. This ensures that East Bay residents have continued free access to the Dumbarton Express.
EasyPass provides unlimited travel on all AC Transit service, both local and transbay, and is valid for the full calendar year, seven days a week.
Stanford purchased these passes from AC Transit primarily for eligible East Bay residents’ commute to Stanford; however, there is no restriction on their use as long as you reside in AC Transit’s service area.
