FAQ About Live Map and App
The Marguerite’s real-time bus tracking app and web page allows users to get up-to-the-minute information about the status of every bus, on every line, 24 hours a day.
Where can I access ETA SPOT?
How can I set up the app?
Refer to our How to Use the ETA SPOT app page for a step-by-step visual guide.
Where does ETA SPOT get data and how often is it updated?
Once the bus operator assigns a specific bus to the line, the data come from automated bus trackers. The data updates every 10 seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Which bus lines does ETA SPOT display?
ETA SPOT shows information for 1050A, BOH, HD, MC, MC: Holiday, Oak Creek Apartments, Patient Tram, RP, SE, SLAC, VA, and lines C, N, O, P, S, X, and Y.
Information for the AE-F line is available via the Tripshot app.
Area bus and transit not operated by Stanford University does not appear on the ETA SPOT interface.
How can I display the line(s) that I want to see?
Use the sidebar on the left to select and deselect lines to view. You can select as many or as few as you need.
If there is a line or lines that you regularly check, you can use the "Favorites" function.
Will my user data be used for other purposes?
The SPOT app does not authenticate users. User data, including GPS location, is not stored.
Why does the app ask for permission to access my location data?
Users are not required to grant access to their location data. The “You are Here” feature is not mandatory.
There are two reasons the app requests location data. First, it allows the app to use your current location to find the nearby agencies on the opening screen. Second, it allows users to center the map on their location if they so choose.
What does "status" mean when I click on a stop?
The status of the bus is the time it is expected to arrive, versus the "time" listing, which is the time the bus is scheduled to arrive.
What are the scrolling alerts?
Scrolling alerts appear at the top of the app. They notify users of relevant information not displayed on the map itself. This includes information such as delays due to traffic and buses that are not being tracked accurately in the ETA SPOT system.
What if I prefer a standard map and timetable?
You can always visit the Marguerite web page for online or printable schedules and maps.
