The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) recently recognized Stanford Transportation with the 2022 TDM University Excellence Award for its efforts in addressing commuter transportation initiatives, and promoting the benefits of its Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program on the Stanford and Redwood City campuses.

Stanford joined the esteemed company of the following recipients who were also recognized for exemplary leadership and practice of TDM:

  • Metropolitan Planning Organization: Atlanta Regional Commission
  • Municipality: Washington, DC
  • Transportation Provider: WeDriveU, Inc.
  • Innovation & Technology: Rideamigos
  • Advocacy: Veronica Jarvis
  • Leadership: Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-OR)

Jeff Olschwang, Stanford Transportation’s Director of Communications, accepted the award  at the 2022 TDM Forum. “We’re honored to be recognized among the nation’s leading companies, universities, and public agencies that understand the importance of improving commuter options in an effort to improve quality of life for commuters and sustainability for the planet,” said Olschwang.

ACT recognized Stanford’s innovative sustainable transportation programs which enable the university to achieve its "No Net New Commute Trips” goal including:

  • Ridesharing programs
  • Commute incentive programs
  • Free and discounted transit
  • Car sharing
