Ridesharing, including vanpools and carpools, can be an excellent way to share the costs of commuting, lower your carbon footprint and even develop camaraderie with fellow colleagues in the Stanford community.

For eligible commuters who are interested in starting a new vanpool or carpool, we encourage you to visit our Stanford Carpool and Vanpools listing page to post or find a ride. You also can contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu, and we will be glad to help.

We continue to fund existing vanpools, and are in the process of evaluating whether we will offer the subsidy for new vanpools. In the meantime, carpooling could be a way to develop a future vanpool group. While carpool permits and subsidies are currently suspended, those in informal carpools can share the cost of commuting. Please refer to our Parking Permit Reinstatement: Updates for Carpools and Vanpools page for additional information.

If you have questions or need help with your transit commute, we’re here to help. Contact us at commuteclub@stanford.edu or request a one-on-one commute consultation.

We recognize that commuting is a personal choice, especially at this time. Stanford commuters are encouraged to assess and select the option(s) that best meet their needs. Information we provide about commute options is provided as a courtesy for those who need it and is not intended to encourage specific commute mode choices.
