Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) continues to restore service following the tragedy at their railyard earlier this year. Schedules have been modified to include later operating hours on some routes and increased frequency on many others. These positive developments bring VTA service closer to a full recovery, which is expected to happen in early 2022.
The following significant changes have been made:
• Light Rail: Service on the Blue, Green and Orange Lines will operate every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends.
• Route 21: Weekday service will be improved to operate every 30 minutes all day, and service will be extended to 8:30 p.m.
• Routes 64A and 64B: Weekday service will be improved to operate every 30 minutes, with a combined 15 minute frequency between Diridon and McKee & White with 64A service hours extended to 11 p.m.
• Route 89: This route will be extensively rescheduled to improve connections with Caltrain.
• Route 568: This new weekday Rapid route runs every 30 minutes in both directions from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, and will operate between Gilroy/Morgan Hill and the Diridon Station, primarily on Monterey Highway. This new all-day, limited stop service replaces the discontinued Express 168.
