Fall into a New Sustainable Commute During Rideshare Month

Fall is here! Leaves are turning colors, the hills may soon be green, and it’s National Rideshare Month. Why not join thousands of your peers and colleagues who take advantage of Stanford’s generous commute incentives? Read on to learn how to help the environment and save with transit offerings, pre-tax benefits, 100% subsidized vanpools, and more.

Transit Pass Program
Check your eligibility and request pass(es) for the free Caltrain Go Pass, VTA SmartPass, and AC Transit EasyPass.
Current Caltrain Discount plus pre-tax benefits: Now is the time to dust off your Clipper card, tag your Go Pass, and hop on the train. With daily parking at Caltrain just $2.75 and a monthly permit costing $41.25, you can save on gas, avoid traffic, and enjoy a good book on your daily commute.

Rideshare
Join a free Stanford vanpool or carpool. A new Santa Cruz vanpool has started, with San Francisco and Hayward looking to form soon. Find open seats on our current vanpool page or browse the Stanford-only ridematching site. We have 18 vanpools—and your vanpool vehicle and parking are free.

Biking
Join in as one of 13,000+ bicycles traversing the campus daily. Biking is one of the most sustainable ways to navigate throughout or commute to campus. Take advantage of the Suggested Travel Routesbike racksbike safety repair stands, and more as you ride to, from, or around campus.

Pre-tax Benefits
Eligible commuters have the option to use pre-tax dollars to make transit purchases. This program could mean savings of up to 40% on commute-related expenses. Items available for purchase include Caltrain parking, BART parking, transit passes, Clipper cash value, and Commuter Checks.

Commute Consultations
Need assistance planning your sustainable commute? Schedule a virtual 15-minute One-on-One Commute Consultation to determine your options, including bicycling, transit to finding a carpool or vanpool, and much more.
