Adaptable Commuter: Environmentally Conscious Minhtu Earl Tries It All
"Commuting is fun, easy, and good for the environment!" - Minhtu Earl
“Even if highways were expanded to 10 lanes, I still wouldn’t drive.”
In her four years at Stanford, Minhtu Earl, a manager on the Service Strategy Operations team, has grown increasingly aware of how her choices impact the environment. Her concern for our natural surroundings is one of the main reasons she chooses to commute sustainably. Minhtu feels that her Commute Club membership is critical in helping to protect the world around her.
Trying commuting modes from San Jose
Minhtu signed up for the Commute Club on her first day at Stanford main campus in 2015 and has been an active and engaged member ever since. Over the past four years, she has mixed and matched her commute three separate times to discover what works best for her.
Currently, Minhtu commutes to her office at Stanford Redwood City via Caltrain. She uses the free Marguerite and Commute.org shuttles, which connect the Redwood City Transit Center with the university’s new state-of-the-art campus less than two miles away.
Commuting with Scoop and carpool
Even with a settled and convenient commute, Minhtu is also passionate about trying new things and has downloaded Scoop. She uses the flexible carpooling app about once a week to switch up her route to work.
In the spirit of trying new things, Minhtu would like to start a carpool of her own. She believes that “carpooling would save time and it would be great to have company on my everyday commute!”
