Suggestions For Planning Your Event
We have outlined some ideas to help you and your team plan a “Try Your Commute Day.”
Interested in learning about other teams who have planned a “Try Your Commute Day?” Here are the experiences of two teams:
Getting There:
-
Survey your team to pick a day and date that works best for everyone interested.
-
Establish a meet-up location and time. Consider the Cardinal Café in Cardinal Hall (address: 505 Broadway) as a great place to meet and discuss how your commutes went.
-
Provide commute options, such as train/shuttle schedules that work with the timing of your arrival and information about parking (we can help with this).
While You Are There:
Take a short tour around the campus (map). Decide ahead of time what members of your group want to see. Here are some ideas:
-
Stanford Recreation and Wellness Center (address: 900 Warrington Avenue)
-
Cardinal Café (address: 505 Broadway)
-
The first floor of Cardinal Hall (address: 505 Broadway)
-
Barron Garage (address: 2855 Bay Road)
-
Bike cage in Barron Garage (map)
-
Zipcar location (located across Broadway in the parking lot east of 500 Broadway)
-
Marguerite and Commute.org shuttle stop (map)
Returning To Campus
Once you have completed your tour, head back to campus.
-
Those who drove to campus could give a ride back to coworkers who took transit, biked, or walked.
-
This could be a good opportunity to see how it will be to travel to the main campus. Refer to our “Travel between SRWC and Main Campus” page for options and resources we have outlined.
-
For those who bike commute, we now have bike route options between campuses available on our website.
We hope this information is helpful. If you would like help in planning your commute or your department’s “Try Your Commute Day”, please contact commuteclub@stanford.edu.
